Renee – The Beauty You Are

I often think about how skin of a different hues are depicted in media. Do we even notice and how do people feel about it? This portrait series explores some of those curiosities through the reflections women of color shared. This series is a piece of the capstone project of my undergraduate studies in digital communications at the University of Baltimore.

Fort Jackson, South Carolina, my sister and I were on the playground and these little boys called us black-eyed peas. We were so devastated, we ran home.
