My earliest memory around being a person of color was when I was ready to go to kindergarten and my mom explaining that my skin was a different color than a lot of the other children that were going to be in the class. She explained to me that I would have to work twice as hard to earn half as much.
Felicia – The Beauty You Are
I often think about how skin of a different hues are depicted in media. Do we even notice and how do people feel about it? This portrait series explores some of those curiosities through the reflections women of color shared. This series is a piece of the capstone project of my undergraduate studies in digital communications at the University of Baltimore.
